HELP TO STOP INTIMAT PARTNER ABUSE

The abuser intervention program at A Renewed Mind (ARM) is designed for individuals who are abusive to their intimate partners.

The program provides an opportunity to identify and avoid abusive behaviors, develop and utilize new relationship skills, identify healthy relationships and boundaries, and learn about stages of change.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

ARM's abuser intervention program (AIP) is state-certified and is open to all Maryland residents.

Participants may be referred by and/or as a result of:

    • Order of protection
    • A condition of sentence after conviction
    • The State's Attorney
    • Probation/Parole Officer
    • Attorneys

Participants may also self-refer. There are both male and female groups; however there are no co-ed groups for the AIP.

WHAT IS THE COST?

The 26-week program cost is set by a sliding fee scale based on income.  The initial intake/assessment fee is $75.00 and is payable at time of intake.  Each weekly fee is payable at time of session and may be paid by money order or cash.

THE PROCESS

Upon referral, professional staff will meet with participant to conduct a comprehensive assessment to determine appropriateness for the abuser intervention program.  A plan is developed to address the needs of the participant to enable them to stop abusive, controlling behaviors in their intimate relationship and set them on a path of change.  During the assessment appointment, program guidelines are outlined and a program contract is signed.

There is an expectation that participants take personal responsibility for their behaviors, will actively engage in group discussions, and complete any assignments to successfully complete th program.
